Well, I don't know what is going on with the 45 GAP round. I don't know if it will eventually be a winner! In my opinion, I think the 45GAP is is very good round. A forty five caliber pistol you can carry like a 9mm/.40S&W, with similar dimension as a Glock 23. I am looking at a Glock 38. Looks good from my end! |

| the .45 gap is a good round, but i dont think it will ever find much popularity. its an oddball round with nothing to offer that most folks are looking for. the .45 acp crowd is a very dedicated group of enthusiasts and they arent interested in changing. the 9mm/40 crowd doesnt want to give up capacity, so thats a hard sell there too. i dont own a gap, and dont foresee myself ever buying one. |

| i own a g37 and i love the gap round but completely agree with nathan. the round doesn't seem to be gaining any traction. it is more popular on the east coast than the left coast. no idea why. a couple of state police agencies back east changed over completely to the gap round early this year or late last year. but i think that glock itself finally decided that the round just wasn't going to gain on the acp so they are marketing the g21sf a lot more and it is gaining traction quickly. hard to over throw the king (the acp). |

Yeah. It seems like the choice of nomenclature was a mistake. A GAP is a hole, or where something is missing. My approach was that as a carry round it seems to be a good balance. Size and caliber. I also hear that ammo cost for the GAP round is higher. As the dollar gets devalued more and more, unless you reload, ammo cost will be an issue if it isn't already. For conceal carry the 45ACP is a bit of a challenge. That is why I pack .40S&W guns. I carried a GI 45ACP many years ago....too heavy. I do not want to carry a single action pistol in a civilian environment. Just my personal preference!. To each his own! |

| I have a G37 that I purchased because it fits my hand better than a .45acp. It's a good shooter but ammo is not as easy to find and is more expensive. It does what it was intended to do and I'm happy with it. |

Based on all I've read, the name '.45 Glock Automatic Pistol' or .45 G.A.P. was chosen and assigned by SAAMI after Glock submitted the cartridge for approval. Glock had chosen '.45 Glock'.
After shooting and being happy with 3 Glock 40s for a year, I recently bought a 38 to replace a 23 as a carry gun. I immediately bought dies and bullets and have developed a great-performing load using Universal and the excellent 185g. Speer Gold Dot. I've tested the expansion characteristics (using jugs of water) of many 40- and 2 45-caliber bullets, and this 45-cal. GD performed as finely as expected. That's a 185g. Silvertip on the right.

I'm so happy with the 38 that I just ordered a 37.
...and it arrived this week.
